Born in Japan in 1986, stop motion artist Haruko Itahashi obtained her BA in Hungarian language at the Osaka University in 2010. She learnt the craft of animating at the Kecskemétfilm studio. In 2011/2012, she studied animation at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design, Budapest. She worked for various Japanese studios (e.g. Tokyo Broadcasting Systems Inc., Robotcommunication Inc., Tokyo) as an animation director, storyboard artist, character designer, and background artist. Currently she is a freelancer creating commercials, desktop publishing, and web graphics. Her film Panic Screen won 1st award at the 1st Handmade Animation Grand-prix pitch contest in 2014 in Japan.
At the exhibition, you can see her unique puppets made of paper as well as her exceptional layered cut-out images. Parallel with the exhibition, you can join a cutout animation workshop lead by the artist at Primanima Animation Playzone.
