KAFF 2019 - REGULATIONS
11th FESTIVAL OF EUROPEAN ANIMATED FEATURE FILMS AND TV FILMS
19-23 June, 2019, Kecskemét, Hungary
Submission deadline is 4th March 2019.
1. ADMINISTRATION
The regulation of this Festival considers the rules of the Association Internationale du Film d'Animation / International Animated Film Association (ASIFA).
2. OFFICIAL LANGUAGES
The official languages of the Festival are Hungarian and English.
3. QUALIFICATION FOR ENTRIES
Competition categories:
- Feature films (min. running time 40 minutes)
- TV specials (min. running time 20 minutes)
- TV and online series (max. 2 episodes)
The following qualifications are required for entry works in the Festival:
The entered works shall be made by some kind of animation technique. (In exceptional cases the festival director reserves the right to admit films of shorter duration.)
For the pre-selection procedure entry works can be submitted in one of the following formats: .mov, .mp4
- by FTP server (host name and user name can be found in the registration email)
- online (MyAirBridge, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive etc. – entering a link and password for download in the online application form)
Works shall be those that have been completed after 1 February, 2017.
For festival screening Digital Cinema Package (DCP – no encryption key) and 1920 x 1080 H.264 QuickTime (.mov) file are accepted.
The works entered in the Festival must be in European ownership of at least 50%.
Copyrighted characters, scripts, music, etc., cannot be used in the works without the copyright owner's agreement. Failure to obtain such agreement will result in the disqualification of the work from the competition.
4. ENTRY PROCEDURES
The online entry form is available on the official festival website at www.kaff.hu. The entry form is valid in the electronic format, without a signature, and it does not need to be sent to the Festival Office.
Submission deadline is 4th March 2019.
For works with narration or dialogue, the script must be enclosed. If any narration or dialogue is spoken in a language other than the official languages of the Festival, an English translation must be attached to the script. All the selected films with dialogues must have English subtitles.
One entry form is required for each work.
No entry fee is required.
5. SELECTIONS AND COMPETITION
The Organizing Committee will select the members of the International Selection Committee and the International Jury in accordance with ASIFA regulations.
The selection will take place at the end of April 2019.
If the work is selected the screening copy must arrive till 8th May 2019.
The official competition will be from 19 to 23 June, 2019.
The decisions of the International Selection Committee and the International Jury will be considered final, and no questions regarding the decisions will be accepted.
6. FESTIVAL PRIZES
The official prizes of the jury are:
- KECSKEMÉT PRIZE
- BEST FEATURE FILM
- BEST TV SPECIAL
- BEST TV SERIES
Other prizes:
- AWARD OF THE HUNGARIAN STUDENT JURY
The Organizing Committee also welcomes certain organizations wishing to present their own special prizes and cash awards.
7. PROMOTIONAL USE OF WORKS
The entrant grants the Organizing Committee the right to use part (max. 3 minutes) of the entry or related materials for publicity purposes on the website, Facebook page and YouTube channel of the festival.
8. RETURN OF FILM PRINTS
The Organisation Committee will return the storage media (flash drive, hard drive…) to the address indicated on the entry form within two weeks after the Festival.
9. MATTERS NOT MENTIONED IN THE REGULATIONS
The Organizing Committee will decide matters not mentioned in these regulations.
10. ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS
By submitting an entry form to the Festival, the entrant accepts the terms of the present regulations as stated in this document.
