Dr. Mohamed GHAZALA is a professor of animation, artist of animated films, and the founder and director of ASIFA Egypt, the first chapter of the International Animated Film Association "ASIFA" in Africa and the Arab world. Currently he is the Vice President of ASIFA, and works as an Assistant Professor at the Visual & Digital Production Department at Effat University in Saudi Arabia. He served on many international animation festival juries including Stuttgart (Germany), Castelli Animati (Italy), SICAF (South Korea) and Animanima (Serbia).
He has directed award-winning films, including Honyan's Shoe (2009), winning the Animation prize at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2010. In 2011, he his first book Animation in the Arab World. A Glance on the Arabian animated films since 1936 (Lambert AP, Germany) was published. In 2013, his second book Animation in Africa was published in Egypt.
