Dr. Sándor BÉKÉSI was born in Budapest, 1954. He finished his secondary studies in the animation faculty of Secondary School of Visual Arts in 1972, where Marcell Jankovics was his lecturer. He graduated at the Hungarian University of Arts and Design, with József Nepp as his tutor. Between 1972 and 1981, he worked as key and frame animator in Pannonia Film Studios, later as motion designer. Between 1985 and 1991, he worked as animation director. Between 1986 and 1994, he taught film design and screenplay in the animation faculty of the Hungarian University of Arts and Design. His independent animated films are: The Idea (1972), Hieronymus Bosch: Garden of Earthly Delights (1980), The Run (1983), Lights before Dawn (1985), Tales of Vases: The Major Deities (1986-1989), Tales of Vases: The Labours of Heracles (1989-1991, script and graphic design).
Between 1991 and 1996, he studied theology at the Faculty of Theology, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church of Hungary. He also got his PhD Degree here in 2004, and became an assistant professor of the Department of Organized Theology. From 2005, he became a docent, and from 2012 he became Head of Department as docent. Between 2005 and 2011, he became the dean of the Faculty of Theology. In 2006, he initiated the launch of Szenczi Molnár Albert Institution of Christian Art, inside the Faculty of Theology. From 2007, he is the founder and chief editor of the institute’s multilingual journal, Porta Speciosa, featuring studies of international authors.
